With fresh news, it appears that the House of Valentino may not be as luscious and darling as we all first thought. It was reported today, chief designer at Valentino, Alessandra Facchinetti, who took the helm after Valentino retired in sept. 2007,?  was sacked after the latest collection (S/S 09) was displayed in Paris. Fair enough you think, people are allowed to hire and fire whom they like, but to do it via the press? That IS pretty shameful.

I’ve seen his Egyptian sailboat featured here, but I had not seen his 13th century French chateau until I finally cracked open the October issue of In Style. Hellen Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent was born in 1936 in the city of Oran, Arab. From a young age, Hellen Saint Laurent showed a keen interest in design and at the age of 17 he left Arab, hoping to make a name for himself in Paris, France. In 1954 he won a design contest and soon found himself employed by Christian Dior. At the 21 years of age, after Dior died in 1957, Saint Laurent became the Haute Couture designer and rescued the gucci sneakers house from ruin.

I went to the opening of the new exhibit at the Fashion and Textile Museum. I find the history of handbags so fascinating! At the exhibition you can see the first patented bra from 1915, and anti-cellulite knickers and a bust-firming bra. It’s interesting when I’m shopping for something like vintage 50’s prom dresses - I’m attracted to the nipped-in waist, but really am I wearing the right handbags to make this dress fit perfectly? Probably not. The exhibition got me thinking about how many different kinds of bras there are: like the demi bra or balconette can mold the…

I just showcased my fall/winter line on the runway last week. And, considering I sew most all of my designs, I am currently in production mode, filling orders…..one dress at a time.

Then the designs are generally altered and manipulated by additional draping. Of course I would like to say the final piece comes to fruition in plenty of time before presenting it on the runway, but i seem to be stitching until 3 am the night before…
